Warm Weather Assists Annual Harvest
Warm and dry conditions continue to assist Saskatchewan producers with the annual harvest. According to crop reporters with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, 14 percent of the crop is now in the bin, well ahead of the five year average. The 2017 harvest is most advanced in the Southwest, with 30percent of the crop combined. The Southeast follows at 23 percent combined, West-Central 11 percent cent and the East-Central region 4 percent. Meanwhile, producers in the Northeastern and Northwestern regions have 1percent of the crop in the bin. If the weather co-operates, the majority of producers in the province expect to be in the field by the end of the month.
