Update: Weather Warning for the Swift Current Area
Environment Canada has issued a Weather Warning for the Swift Current area. Heavy rain changing to heavy snow this evening and ending Tuesday afternoon. An intense low pressure system over eastern Saskatchewan is wrapping in warm moist air from the southeast and cold air from the northwest.
Heavy rainfall will transition to snow later today as colder air makes its way into this system. Over southern sections of the Swift Current region the transition to snow occur later this morning. Precipitation will taper off Tuesday afternoon when this system starts to track eastward. Rainfall totals will be in the 40-60 mm range by Monday evening. Snowfall totals will be in the 10-15 cm range by Tuesday afternoon. Travelers should be prepared for rapidly deteriorating conditions today and tonight. The forecast is calling for Rain mixed with Snow Today 20-30mm, Windy with a High of 7. Rain 10-15mm changing to Snow near midnight, 5-10cmt and a Low of -1. Occasional Snow for Tuesday, 5-10cm with a High of 1.
Sunny on Wednesday with a High of 9 and up to 13 for Thursday. Looking ahead to Friday, a High of 15 in the Sunshine and 14 for Saturday. Mainly Sunny by Sunday and a High of 9.
