Town of Gull Lake Joins Safe Places Program

The momentum continues to build for the Safe Places program. Earlier this summer the City of Swift Current celebrated 1000 individuals receiving youth certification in the program and now the Town of Gull Lake is joining the initiative.

We had the opportunity to receive a presentation from the Swift Current Safe Places team, and we really appreciated what they are doing there, said Mayor Campbell. This is an opportunity to work with a regional partner with the goal of making our communities safer places for our young residents. We're very excited to get to work on this implementation process.

As is the case in Swift Current, residents of Gull Lake, particularly those who come into contact with youth can anticipate encouragement from Town Council to become Youth Certified.

The Safe Places initiative was launched in Swift Current in January 2016, which involves an on-line course, background check through the RCMP before receiving certification to work with youth. More information on the program is available from the City of Swift Current or on line at www.SafePlacesSK.ca
