SCCHS Ardens Continue Winning Streak on the Soccer Field
The Swift Current Comp. Ardens soccer team was in Prince Albert over the weekend where they won an eight-team tournament hosted by St. Mary High School. The Ardens opened the event with a 12-0 win over Lloydminster's Holy Rosary. The Ardens took on the rival Prince Carlton Crusaders in the semi-final and advanced with 2-1 overtime win. The Ardens dominated the championship match against the host St. Mary Marauders and escaped with a 2-1 win after a scoreless opening half.
MJ Anderson led the Ardens with six goals and two assists over two games. Captain Lauryn Hayes scored both goals in the final and finished the weekend with four goals and one assist. Aleah Nickel had a goal and four assists from her sweeper position, while Cassie Barber notched the overtime winner during a two-goal weekend. Rebecca Treen and Jannae Carlson each had a goal and an assist, while Kalea Sauder netted her first career goal with the Ardens. Callie Moreau-Simpson notched three assists, Allison Wall registered two assists, and Jessica Warren contributed one assist. Julian Whalen earned the shutout in the opening match and Jaden McKenzie won the final two matches.
An injury and illness ravaged Ardens squad will now have a well-deserved week off from game action and then will be in Moose Jaw next Thursday for the league semi-final.
