Buckle Up... Seat Belts Save Lives
40 years ago Saskatchewan's seat belt law came into effect and thousands of lives have been saved over the years. It was a tough law for the motoring public to get used to in 1977, as at that time only drivers, front seat passengers and children under 16 years of age were required to wear them. Today, it includes everyone in the vehicle, and there are additional child safety seat requirements for children under the age of seven.
Manufacturers weren't even required to install seatbelts in vehicles until 1971.
